“This piece was a dance into the unknown. I remember the careful and meticulous sculpting of the face, building the contours with the same concentration that fills her expression. She is deep in thought; deeply reflective. The golden glow touches her face and offers a feeling of serenity. At the same time, the flowing yellow ink and purposeful marks of charcoal that run behind and over her loosen this contemplative state, allowing her to simultaneously flow in the moment.”
